Shafts in mines have different functions. We have already seen the shafts that connect all mine levels to bring the ore from the extraction levels to the base level where the material is collected to be carried outside.
Inside the mine there are shafts with other functions. There are shafts for air ventilation, other ones that serve as technical ducts for compressed air piping and electrical cables and still other ones set up with lifts, hoists or winches for the transportation of personnel or tools and materials up to a few hundred meters. Inside the Ollomont mines you can see some of these types of shafts.
