The shaft, about a hundred meters deep, communicated with the system of tunnels dug beneath this cave and still existing, and, thanks to a staircase, was used by miners to move between the different levels. Through the shaft, the winch allowed for the lifting of containers filled with extracted material or infiltration waters to the surface.
