Under the shed that was rebuilt to protect the site from the weather, there were probably silos used to collect and classify the minerals extracted from the Saint-Jean and Balme mines, which arrived from the Frissonière descent gallery via a cable car. This foundry environment is described in 1909 as follows:
“The minerals, coming from the descent of Frissonia, arrive via the telefer to the upper level of a series of wooden silos that serve, in addition to the minerals themselves properly classified and sampled, also for coal, flux, and slags to be remelted.”
